Cimicifuga or cohosh (cimicifuga racemosa) is a perennial herb 1.5 to 2.5 m high, of the Ranunculaceae family (species Acts) which grows in North America.
Cohosh flowers in July, it has bi- or tri-ternate leaves. These flowers are whitish.

Cimicifuga, also known as cohosh, has an estrogenic action; it is also a rheumatic anti-inflammatory. It relieves symptoms related to menopause. Native Americans used it to relieve parturients, regulate menstruation, treat people with sore throats, kidney diseases, bronchitis, and fever. It is more effective in women.

Method of preparation:

Decoction 3 min. at the rate of 1 tsp. to c. per cup, let steep for another 10 minutes. Filter.

Use:

Drink 2 to 3 cups per day.
